How to File a Warranty Claim With LG

Compiled & reviewed by Nikolai Tsyrenov · Updated 2026-06-25 · confidence: high

A step-by-step LG warranty claim: what to gather, who to contact, and what to do if you're out of warranty.

In short: Online at lg.com/us/support, by phone, or an LG service center. Have a dated proof of purchase and the serial number ready before you start.

What you'll need

Steps to file your LG warranty claim

  1. Gather your proof of purchase. Find a dated proof of purchase — receipt, order confirmation email, or a card statement showing the LG purchase. The warranty starts from that date, so it's the one thing you can't skip.
  2. Locate the serial and model number. LG ties warranty status to the serial number. Check the device, its box, or the order email, then note the model too.
  3. Contact LG. Online at lg.com/us/support, by phone, or an LG service center.
  4. Describe the defect and get a case number. Explain the fault clearly (photos help), confirm it's a covered manufacturing defect, and write down the case, reference or RMA number you're given.
  5. Return, ship or book the repair. Send the unit or book service exactly as LG directs, keep your tracking/booking, and hold onto every reference number until the repair or replacement is complete.

If your claim is denied or out of warranty

The usual reasons a claim is refused: the product is past its term, there's no proof of purchase, or the damage is accidental or cosmetic rather than a manufacturing defect (a standard warranty doesn't cover those). Third-party protection plans (Asurion, Upsie, SquareTrade) or your credit card's purchase protection may still cover a repair or replacement — check those before paying out of pocket.
