How to File a Warranty Claim With Bose
Compiled & reviewed by Nikolai Tsyrenov · Updated 2026-07-18 · confidence: medium
A step-by-step Bose warranty claim: what to gather, who to contact, and what to do if you're out of warranty.
In short: support.bose.com (repair-and-replacement request) or Bose phone support; My Bose account tracks coverage. Have a dated proof of purchase and the serial number ready before you start.
What you'll need
- A dated proof of purchase (receipt, order email, or card statement)
- The product's serial number and model
- A clear description of the defect — photos or video if you can
- Product registration is helpful but usually not required
Steps to file your Bose warranty claim
- Step 1. Locate the serial number (usually 17 digits near a barcode): inside the earcup of over-ear headphones, on the earbud body or under the tip of in-ear models, under the headband cushion on on-ear models, or on the bottom/back of speakers and soundbars. It's also in the Bose app under Settings > Product Info.
- Step 2. Start the claim at support.bose.com (bose.com/support redirects there): use the Repair & Replacement request, support chat, or call 1-800-278-1083.
- Step 3. Provide proof of purchase — Bose or its authorized service providers may require a receipt or sales invoice before performing warranty service.
- Step 4. Register your product / use My Bose so the serial is on file, then follow Bose's prompted repair or replacement options.

If your claim is denied or out of warranty
Common reasons Bose denies a claim or treats it as out of warranty:
- Products not bought from Bose or a Bose-authorized dealer (Bose warns unauthorized-reseller units may be counterfeit or stolen).
- Claims without a valid proof of purchase.
- Damage from unauthorized repair or modification.
- Misuse, accidental or cosmetic damage, and normal wear; consumables such as ear tips/cushions and batteries.
Third-party protection plans (Asurion, Upsie, SquareTrade) or your credit card's purchase protection may still cover a repair or replacement — check those before paying out of pocket.
